Which Minecraft update adds frogs to the game?
Mojang will officially add frogs to the game with Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update. The developers are currently testing this new mob in Java and Minecraft Preview snapshots (more on that below), along with Warden and Allay. And you can test them right now. If they don’t jump, frogs use all four legs alternately to walk. As for their food, Minecraft frogs only eat small slimes and small cubes of magma.

In early Minecraft 1.19 betas, frogs could eat fireflies and, jokingly, even goats, but that’s no longer the case. The frogs can now attack and only eat small slimes and magma cubes using their long tongues. When you are eaten by a frog, small slug mobs disappear immediately, but not without loss.
If the frog eats a small amount of slime, it will drop slime balls that can later be fed to the frogs. However, more interestingly, when the magma cube is eaten, the frogs drop frog light . This is a light block of the same color as the frog that dropped it. The player can then take this block to use it for decorative purposes. The game does not yet have a recipe that uses frog lanterns.
Where to find frogs in minecraft?
Frogs usually spawn near water sources in Minecraft swamp and mangrove biomes in groups of up to five. As for the type of frog they turn into, depends on the biome they grow in.
Three frog variants found in Minecraft
Minecraft is currently testing three types of frogs, depending on the biome they live in. And the three frog options include ( via Minecraft Wiki ):

- cold frogs
- warm frogs
Temperate frogs are orange in color and can be found in biomes with somewhat neutral temperatures, such as the swamp biome. On the other hand, cold frogs are green in color and are only found in cooler snowy biomes and the End dimension. Finally, warm frogs are grey , and can only be found in hot biomes, including the nether dimension.
Depending on the biome they live in, tadpoles will grow to the frog color of the temperature of that Minecraft biome. The variant of their parents and the location of the frog’s eggs have nothing to do with the final color of the new frog.
